Funding Private Projects in Europe
It is possible to apply for a grant in OECD member countries from Governments and NGO Foundations but you might discover that not all projects get covered by grants. It can be difficult to find organisations willing to help finance a project in particular; those projects that have a unique selling point that counteract current problems but comes with a high-risk approach.
This is where private funding companies and institutional investors come in. They are able to find a way to structure a finance model to help and are willing to back high risk large projects. They have clear understanding of both the opportunity and risk associated with selected business types or market segments. The benefit of getting funded by private institutions is that they can be much more flexible in responding to your unique needs and circumstances and be willing to be a creative source of finance for start-ups by using their funds.
There is a common interest in helping private companies in Europe (listed above) to confront the challenges of a global economy, social issues and employment. To tackle these issues we work closely with European funders to finance private projects that lean towards environmental innovations in science and technology that align to European policies that produce positive results which leaves healthy global footprint.
Private Funding Requirements
Finally, most funders – especially conventional funders would require the following when giving out loans:
- Substantial callable, liquid collateral
- Assets to be ceded to the funder
- Last 5 years accounts
- Current revenue flows
- Will only lend up to 60 or 70% of required funding
- May lend against future invoices
- Depending on the type of funder, may ask for a large chunk of equity out of the project
- Credit worthiness may be factored in
- Will only lend against a balance sheet
- Will factor in company profit/loss and assets/liabilities
- And the list goes on………
We on the other hand have private funders who will look at projects who are unable to demonstrate the above and more and are flexible enough to lend on the merit of the project and its potential.
*Our European funders are currently looking to fund environmental projects and health related projects.
